The currently accepted criterion for markers
indicating the possibility of
Prostate Cancer in men using the prostate specific antigen, PSA, test will not accurately
predict
Prostate Cancer in younger men. According to Duke
University Medical Center researchers, the test for men younger than 70 needs to be adjusted to reflect a lower
accepted level of how fast PSA is rising. PSA levels grow more slowly in men under 70. Researchers studied the medical
records of 12,000 men, and found physicians using the standard criteria of rising PSA levels for detecting prostate
cancer were missing the signs of
Prostate Cancer in younger men.
