Here comes a new community grid project with a worthy goal: fighting AIDS. The project, FightAIDS@Home, is tapping into the World Community Grid to help researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California discover new treatments for AIDS. The project will put over 100,000 computers at Scripps' command. Community grids take huge number-crunching jobs that might normally be done on an expensive supercomputer and dole them out to volunteers so the work can be done for a fraction of the cost. Anyone who is interested in participating can get more info by logging on to the World Community Grid.
