Hoping to further tap into the burgeoning Indian auto market,
Ford’s own CEO, Bill
Ford, was on hand in Delhi to
introduce the all-new
Ford Fiesta sedan. This is
Ford’s fifth new product in six years for the Indian market, which
underscored Mr.
Ford’s assertion about how important India is to
Ford’s future success. The new Fiesta will go on sale
in the fourth quarter with a Duratec 1.6L four-cylinder and Duratorq 1.4L Turbo Direct Common Rail injection diesel as
available powertrains. In order to handle the particular region in which it will be sold, the Fiesta was put through
extensive water wading tests to ensure it would be capable of wading through Indian monsoon flooding and the air
conditioner was beefed up to more rapidly cool down the cabin.
