Well, sort of.
Audi announced Tuesday that the production version of the stunning Le Mans quattro concept car
(pictured) will be called the
Audi R8, after the all-conquering Le Mans prototype racecar.
The new R8 will be built at
Audi’s Neckarslum plant under the direction of its subsidiary quattro GmbH. The factory
houses
Audi’s Aluminum Centre, and specializes in lightweight design technologies. Production is scheduled to begin in
the fourth quarter of 2006, with market availability in early 2007.
