Jessica Simpson Denies Divorce Report

Given the river of ink that has been spilled predicting the imminent demise of not-so-"Newlyweds" Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, it's likely no one was too surprised by a report on Tuesday that said they were kaput.
No one, that is, except Nick and Jessica.
The much-chronicled couple is steaming mad over a story posted by E! Online claiming Simpson had filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing those good ol' irreconcilable differences.
"It is completely false and we would sue them if they hadn't taken it down," the big-lunged pop starlet fumes to US Weekly, adding that the people putting forth these "false rumors" are in for "karma, baby!"

On Tuesday night, Simpson defiantly flashed her wedding ring for photographers outside an L.A. recording studio, although, sadly, her "bikini body" was hidden beneath an oversized sweatshirt.
The network issued a mea culpa after quickly removing the story from its website, explaining that it "deeply regrets that a draft report from E! Online, which contained some false information regarding the Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson marriage, was accidentally disseminated. The couple has not filed for divorce. E! apologizes to Nick, Jessica, their families and their fans for any distress this may have caused."
So was E! simply preparing for the worst? Could be, what with the persistent breakup whispers that have dogged the toothsome twosome for months.
You'll recall that In Touch recently declared that the Lacheys, who tied the knot in October 2002, were in their "last days," with a mole asserting to the mag, "They are completely done. Now it's just a matter of time."
In the past few weeks, Jessica has been forced to deny allegations that she cozied up to her "Dukes of Hazzard" co-star Johnny Knoxville ("I adore Johnny -- we worked together and that's all that happened"), ooky rocker Fred Durst ("absolutely untrue") and Knoxville's "Jackass" cohort Bam Margera.
The Bam rumor was sparked by his dad and frequent practical joke victim, Phil, during a radio interview a few days ago. Simpson hit back through US Weekly editor Katrina Szish, who tells Extra, "Jessica says she is loyal and very committed to her husband..." Margera has also denied the chatter.
And while Simpson, Knoxville and Margera did paint the town red last month, it was all on the up and up, Jessica informs the reporter.
"They partied all night long in L.A.," Szish explains. "They even ended up crashing at her house while Nick was out of town, recording in Sweden, but she insists they're just friends."
And for those on the edge of their seats, Jessica's hush-hush bikini secrets include working out six days a week and following a combination of the Zone, Atkins and the South Beach Diet.
